Phases and deliverables

A structured process, tangible outputs, clearer decisions

Once the need for an assessment has been understood, the next step is to understand how it works. This page describes the phases, deliverables, timelines, roles and control points of the Innovando assessment process. The goal is not to produce documents for their own sake, but to build a clear, reusable and verifiable decision-making foundation that can be shared with internal teams or external suppliers.

From why to how

An assessment has value only when it creates order. After explaining why it matters, this page shows how it works: which phases it includes, which materials are collected, which analyses are performed and which deliverables remain with the client. A methodology should not remain a principle. It must become a process, a document and ultimately a decision.

The main assessment page explains why intuition, urgency and isolated interventions are no longer enough. This page moves to the next level: the practical operation of the process. An assessment is not an informal conversation, a collection of opinions or an isolated technical audit. It is a structured sequence of steps that transforms evidence, risks and opportunities into a usable decision-making framework.

This is why phases matter. Every step has a specific purpose: gathering information, understanding context, distinguishing symptoms from causes, defining priorities, building a roadmap and making future decisions verifiable. Without this progression, even a well-executed analysis risks remaining interesting but not actionable.

Deliverables exist precisely to avoid this risk. They are not decorative attachments but working tools: documents, maps, summaries, priorities, recommendations and measurement criteria that clients can use with their own teams, with Innovando or with other suppliers. Their value lies in clarity, not quantity.

A good assessment must leave something tangible behind: a picture of the current situation, an interpretation of risks, a hierarchy of priorities and a practical direction forward. The value does not lie in producing more pages, but in enabling better, less impulsive and more informed decisions.

A serious assessment does not end with a document. It begins to deliver value when that document helps people make better decisions.

The four phases of the assessment

The Innovando assessment follows a progressive structure. First, evidence is collected. Then risks and priorities are analysed. Next, a roadmap is created. Finally, implementation and measurement criteria are defined. Each phase has a specific purpose: preventing improvisation, reducing ambiguity and turning analysis into operational decisions.

Core deliverables

An assessment creates value when it leaves behind clear, usable and verifiable outputs. Innovando deliverables are not designed to fill folders but to make the analysis accessible over time. Summaries, maps, priorities, roadmaps, risks, KPIs and operational recommendations become practical tools for decision-making, team coordination and supplier management.

Indicative timelines

Every assessment depends on its scope, the amount of available material, the number of areas to be analysed and the speed at which information and access credentials are provided. For this reason, timelines should not be interpreted as fixed rules but as indicative scenarios that help estimate the required commitment and the expected level of analysis.

Operational note

Timelines begin once the required materials and agreed access credentials are available. In cases of incomplete documentation, inaccessible technical environments or an evolving scope, the schedule may be adjusted together with the client. The objective is not speed, but reliability.

 Essential assessment

Indicative timeline
5 to 7 working days

Suitable for limited-scope projects, smaller websites, preliminary reviews or situations where an initial structured understanding of priorities is required. It provides a clear summary of the main issues and recommended next steps.

Standard assessment

Indicative timeline
10 to 15 working days

This is the most suitable format for the majority of organisations. It enables the analysis of websites, content, SEO/GEO, reputation, infrastructure, key risks and strategic consistency, resulting in structured deliverables and an operational roadmap

Extended assessment

Indicative timeline
20 to 30 working days

Designed for complex digital ecosystems, multilingual websites, extensive editorial operations, advanced technical infrastructures or environments involving multiple stakeholders. It requires broader data collection, deeper discussion and more extensive analysis.

Roles and responsibilities

An assessment requires methodology, but also collaboration. Innovando analyses, interprets, structures and delivers an operational perspective, while the client provides information, access credentials, materials and key contacts. The clearer the scope and the more complete the evidence, the more useful, verifiable and actionable the outcome becomes.

What Innovando does

Analyses the context

We review the website, content, digital presence, tools, processes, reputation, infrastructure and declared concerns in order to build a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

Distinguishes symptoms from causes

We do not stop at the visible problem. We seek to understand its origin, the areas it affects and the consequences it may generate.

Produces usable deliverables

We deliver summaries, maps, roadmaps, KPIs, recommendations and next steps in a format that is clear, accessible and reusable.

What we need from the client

 Access credentials and materials

Website, CMS, analytics platforms, Search Console, hosting environment, social media tools, internal documentation, content, policies, campaigns, reports and any other materials required within the agreed scope.

Key contacts

A primary point of contact and, where necessary, internal stakeholders involved in communication, marketing, IT, management, legal affairs, sales or customer support.

Objectives and perceived challenges

What the organisation wants to achieve, what is not working, what causes concern, what has already been attempted and what should not be overlooked.

Openness to discussion

A serious assessment may confirm existing assumptions, but it may also challenge habits, priorities or previous decisions. It requires a willingness to examine the situation objectively, without automatically defending the status quo.

An assessment does not look for blame. It looks for relationships between causes, effects and decisions. This is why collaboration with the client is not a formality but an integral part of the methodology. Internal information helps interpret what, from the outside, would appear to be only a symptom.

Operational FAQs

The most common questions concern timelines, access requirements, deliverables, confidentiality and the use of results. This section clarifies the practical aspects of the assessment, helping you understand what is required, what is delivered and how the work can remain valuable long after the final document has been handed over.

How long does an assessment take?

It depends on the scope, the amount of available material and the complexity of the digital ecosystem. In general, it can range from a few working days for an essential assessment to several weeks for a more extensive analysis.

Only the access credentials required within the agreed scope: website, CMS, analytics platforms, Search Console, hosting, social media tools, reports, editorial materials or internal documentation. All access credentials are handled confidentially and used solely for assessment purposes.

Practical deliverables, including an executive summary, a risk and opportunity map, a priority hierarchy, an operational roadmap, KPI baselines, risk indications and operational recommendations.

No. The assessment is primarily designed to build a decision-making foundation. Clients may use it internally, with Innovando or with other suppliers.

Yes. In many cases, that is precisely the reason for requesting one. An assessment transforms perceptions, concerns and scattered signals into a structured framework that can be examined, discussed and acted upon.

It depends on the findings. We may propose an operational roadmap, a web project, SEO/GEO improvements, content reviews, technical support, editorial governance or other specialist activities.

A good assessment does not promise shortcuts. It offers a clearer way to decide where to begin.
